UPDATE: KATC Investigates has learned additional details in a Sunday afternoon fight that left a Crowley father and daughter, and the father of the daughter’s baby, facing charges.
Arrested were Cecil Bourque, 37; his daughter Jasmine Bourque, 18; and her former boyfriend and the father of her two-month-old baby, Melvin Dugar, 19.
Bourque was booked with attempted manslaughter and hate crimes. He posted $35,000 bond and was released.
His daughter was booked with attempted manslaughter and domestic abuse battery; she has no bond set because a domestic violence hearing must be held first.
Dugar was booked with aggravated battery, two counts domestic abuse battery and simple criminal damage to property. He remains in the parish jail in lieu of $21,000 bond.
According to arrest affidavits filed at the time of their booking, the incident happened in the 500 block of East Oak Street about 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
Police spoke with all three of them, and gave the following narrative in the affidavits:
Dugar told police he had broken up with Jasmine Bourque, his girlfriend, on Saturday night. He said he was walking with a female friend Sunday afternoon and Jasmine saw them as she was driving her car. She got out of the vehicle, and Dugar allegedly admitted he grabbed her by her hair and put her back into the vehicle. Then he and the female friend resumed their walk. He accuses Bourque of driving at them, at a high rate of speed, and hitting Dugar. She then drove home, he said. He followed her, and when they arrived at her home, they got into a physical altercation, the affidavit says. That’s when her father got involved. Cecil Bourque hit Dugar with a hammer in the head repeatedly, police said. Dugar had injuries to his right rib, right leg, face and head. He was given medical attention for those injuries, police say.
Jasmine Bourque said she was angry when she saw her child’s father with another woman. She said this “infuriated her” and she hit the accelerator, and hit him with her car, police allege.
Cecil Bourque told police that Dugar threw a brick at his car, but it hit Jasmine in the head. She did suffer minor injuries, police say. The brick also hit the car, causing some damage, police say.
Police say they were told that Dugar and Jasmine Bourque have been dating for about 18 months and living together for about a year.
After he was booked, Dugar also was arrested on a warrant that was issued for him back in March. He was booked on two counts indecent behavior with a juvenile and one count attempted child pornography on that warrant.
KATC Investigates also obtained that warrant, which accuses Dugar of contacting a 15-year old girl and texting her a picture of his genitals and asked her to send him naked pictures of herself. His bond on those charges is set at $95,000.
