Shortage of gas, other supplies in Jeff Davis Parish after Laura

Some of the hard hit areas in Acadiana are now facing a new challenge - a rush on resources.

In Jeff Davis Parish, there were long lines to get fuel and some stations even ran out.

"Everybody's trying to find gas, ice, refreshments. Anything they can grab onto and it's been like this since we got hit," said resident Donny Doucet.

Just days after Laura made landfall, a shortage of supplies is already affecting Jeff Davis Parish.

"I'm wishing them a lot of luck because we have people from out of town and out of state that are saying that other places are closed down and you can't even get to it," Doucet said.

After about 20 minutes, Daigle's in Jennings ran out of gas. Those customers had to drive half a mile to get fuel at E-Z's and wait even longer.

Resident Sarah Trahan spent an hour and a half waiting for gas at the only station left running.

"I've been all over Jennings and this is the only station that's got gas, so we stopped. But it's not moving too fast," added Sam Fontenot.

But even in the midst of waiting in line, Fontenot, from Roanoke, is counting his blessings.

"We're good though. There's so many people that I've talked to that lost their homes. We could live without the gas."
