Six bids were received by the Jeff Davis Parish School Board for the construction of the new Jennings Elementary School.
According to the Jennings Daily News, bids were opened on Tuesday, June 23.
Schools superintendent Kirk Credeur tells the newspaper that the bids will be reviewed and that the chosen contractor will be announced at the next board meeting.
That meeting is scheduled for July 16.
Credeur said that construction can begin immediately once the bid has been awarded.
LADOTD has also approved the construction of a turnoff lane along South Lake Arthur Avenue that will allow access to the new school, according to the paper.
The new, two-story Jennings Elementary School will combine Jennings Elementary and James Ward Elementary.
