LAKE ARTHUR, La. — Jeff Davis Parish is now under a voluntary evacuation order, but some residents in Lake Arthur said they plan to stick around.
They say they've spent years preparing for storms like this by lifting their homes, buying generators, and installing double-paned windows on their homes.
Their only concern is making sure their neighbors are safe.
"We're helping our neighbors right now. You can hear the noise, that's my husband unloading wood to give our neighbors plywood to board up the windows. Our neighbors are staying also so we'll just be all together and help each other the best we can," said Caroldine Broussard.
