A Ragley couple was arrested on Sunday after their 3-year-old child was found walking alone in the middle of a roadway.
Jeff Davis Parish deputies say they were dispatched to Topsy Bel Road after a driver reported seeing a small child walking unattended down the middle of the road.
An investigation by deputies determined that the child's mother, identified as 41-year-old Rochelle Renee Riley, had allegedly left the residence to go to the store and the father, identified as 27-year-old Brock Kevin Manuel, was allegedly not watching the children.
Both Manuel and Riley were arrested and booked for criminal abandonment.
The children were turned over to their grandmother.
