Restrictions in place due to COVID-19 are not slowing down the plans to build a elementary school in Jennings.
Jeff Davis school board officials are still planning to start advertising for bids around May 8.
The new Jennings Elementary will serve roughly 1,100 students from Pre-K through sixth.
When the new campus opens, Jennings Elementary and James Ward Elementary will combine campuses.
The new campus on South Lake Arthur Avenue will be multi-level state of the art campus with a number of security features.
Pre-K through second grade will have classrooms on the first floor while all other grades would occupy the second.
Younger students will have their own play ground area while those in upper grades will share a recess space.
