Fire officials say lightning is to blame for a Sunday afternoon house fire in Jennings.
Fire Chief Bobby Vasseur tells the Jennings Daily News that a lightning strike at 3:30 pm started a fire in the attic of a residence on E. Academy Drive.
The fire was brought under control after 10 minutes.
The homeowners were inside at the time of the fire but were not injured, according to Vasseur.
Firefighters say parts of the home received fire and smoke damage.
Jennings Fire Department, Jeff Davis Fire District No 2 and the Jennings Police Department responded to the scene.
