A Jennings man has died and his passenger is seriously injured following a motorcycle crash in Jeff Davis Parish Friday night.

Troopers says they responded to the fatal crash on Friday, March 20, shortly after 9:30 p.m., on US Highway 90 near West 8th Street in Jefferson Davis Parish. The crash claimed the life of 55-year-old Darren Lee Kebodeaux of Jennings, LA.

An investigation revealed Kebodeaux was traveling west on US 90 and struck a deer. The impact caused Kebodeaux and his passenger to be ejected from the motorcycle. At some point after the initial crash, both riders were struck by a car.

Kebodeaux and his passenger were transported from the scene with serious injuries. Kebodeaux was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Troopers say both were wearing DOT approved helmets at the time of the initial crash. The driver of the car was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
