In Jennings, high winds knocked down power lines and some trees on Thursday during Hurricane Laura.
In fact, one resident who rode out the storm says he got lucky.
He saw a tree fall in his yard and, for a moment, he thought it was going to fall on his home, where his son was asleep.
"A lot of wind, a lot of rain, and a lot of cracking," said Glenn Guidry. "I was actually standing in the hallway. He was sleeping in the hallway; that's where I put his bed. And the tree came down right there. I honestly thought it was going to come all the way through. I didn't think it was going to stop, so I was grateful for that.
