LAKE CHARLES — Non-profit organizations in Jeff Davis Parish are encouraged to apply for grants that would help provide food and shelter for those in need.
FEMA chose the United Way of Southwest Louisiana (UWSLA) to disperse $96,708 to local emergency food or shelter programs. The UWSLA board is currently accepting applications. To apply for the grant they must be a nonprofit governed by an unpaid board, have a qualified accounting system with annual audits, practice non-discrimination practice and demonstrate they are capable of administering local emergency food and/or shelter programs.
