Final juvenile escapee captured in Jennings, two others arrested for aiding fugitive

The final escaped juvenile from the Acadiana Center for Youth in Avoyelles Parish has been captured. Two others have been arrested for allegedly hiding that teen.

The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff's Office says that on Wednesday, December 18, at around 10:30 pm deputies located and apprehended the last of the seven escapees. Seven juveniles escaped from the center on November 17, 2019.

Deputies say they received information that the 17-year-old was hiding in a apartment on McKinley street in Jennings. Upon investigation, detectives, patrol deputies, and Jennings Police say they located the teen hiding under a bed in the residence. Two adults found at the residence, identified as 18-year-old Hakeem Trashaune Gloston of Jennings and 49-year-old Darrel Eugene Rigmaiden of Welsh, had allegedly denied knowing the juvenile, or that he was inside the residence.

Gloston was arrested for accessory after the fact to simple escape, obstruction of justice and possession of a legend drug without prescription. Rigmaiden was arrested for accessory after the fact to simple escape, obstruction of justice, possession of a legend drug without prescription and possession of CDS I Marijuana.

The teen was taken into custody.

On December 10, law enforcement suspected that the escaped juvenile had barricaded himself inside a home in Jennings. The teen was not inside the residence.Read more here.

On November 17, seven juveniles escaped from the detention center in Bunkie. Following that escape, only two were still at large as of November 18. On November 30, one of the two wanted juveniles was located and taken into custody in Lafayette.
