The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff's Office says that a parish-wide curfew will be in effect from 10:00 pm until sunrise beginning Thursday, September 3, 2020
Sheriff Woods says that businesses are starting to open and the curfew will provide residents with enough time to obtain supplies and pick up food for their families.
More people are returning to the area to check on there homes and make repairs, the sheriff's department says.
The curfew is in place to minimize traffic interfering with the electrical workers repairing power lines and to aid law enforcement in protecting homes and businesses from damage or looting.
Sheriff Woods says that barricades are in place on some roadways in the parish due to power lines and debris on the roadway. Those barricades, he says, are in place for the protection of residents and to provide a safe work area for the utilities workers.
It is advised that motorists not attempt to drive around barricades.
