NEW IBERIA, La. — The New Iberia Police Department announced on Friday that it had made an arrest in a Thursday night shooting.

An NIPD spokesperson states that officers responded Thursday to a call of shots fired in near Spencer Loop.

Upon arrival, NIPD state that officers were unable to locate the suspects involved in the incident. Officers were then given a description of a vehicle used by the suspect.

Later in the evening, NIPD say that officers were advised that the possible suspect vehicle was back in the area of Spencer Loop. Officers went to the area and located a vehicle fitting the description.

According to NIPD, officers then attempted to stop the vehicle before the driver of the vehicle attempted to flee from officers.

After a short vehicle pursuit, NIPD states, the occupants of the vehicle abandon the vehicle and fled on foot.

One of the occupants, Timothy Daniels, 18, was located after a short foot pursuit, while two others suspects evaded capture.

Investigators state that officers then learned that the vehicle was stolen out of Picayune, Mississippi and that the occupants had been arrested on armed robbery charges in Picayune.

NIPD say Daniels was booked in the Iberia Parish Jail on the following charges: Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Resisting Arrest, Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Unauthorized use of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of stolen thing valued over $5,000.

This is an on-going investigation and more arrest are expected, investigators say.
