This weekend, the New Iberia Police Department will be conducting a Sobriety Checkpoint.
Spokesman for the department Captain John Babin says the checkpoint will happen on Saturday, August 31st, between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m., New Iberia Police will be conducting a Sobriety Checkpoint within the incorporated limits of New Iberia.
The purpose of the checkpoint, according to a release, is to target impaired drivers under the influence of alcohol or any other dangerous substances.
Officers working the checkpoint will respond with zero tolerance to those drivers found to be under the influence.
