NEW IBERIA, La. — The New Iberia Police Department announced on Thursday that it had arrested two suspects in connection with a burglary of a business in the 600 block of S. Landry Road.
NIPD state that officers saw a suspicious subject enter the business and then observed a vehicle leave the area of the business.
NIPD say they initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle where the driver identified himself as Joey Farmer, 57.
Investigators say they then learned that the vehicle contained items which had be stolen from the business. They also state that a small amount suspected Crystal methamphetamine was located on the suspect.
According to NIPD, the subject who was observed entering the business was located, arrested and later identified as Robert Tucker, 39.
Both subjects were taken to the Iberia Parish Jail and booked.
Farmer was charged with Possession of Schedule II Narcotics, Burglary of a Business, No Driver's License and Possession of Stolen Things.
Tucker was charged with an Open Warrant for Failure to Appear, Unauthorized Entry of a Business and Possession of Stolen Things.
Investigators state that while conducting a follow-up investigation NIPD with the assistance of the Iberia Parish Sheriff Office conducted a search warrant at a residence in the 4200 block of Romero Road in New Iberia where officers were able to locate and recover more stolen items from the residence.
