In Jeanerette, high school senior athletes were honored.
Starting at 8:20 pm, 20:20 in military time on Monday evening, the lights of the football, baseball and softball fields were illuminated at Jeanerette High School. Along with the lights, those wishing to show their support were asked to drive to the school and honk their horns and flash their lights.
Vehicle horns blared past the empty venues where the Tigers take on their rivals. The celebration of the seniors was part of the national "Be the Light" campaign.
Organizers hope that the event can show their senior athletes how much the community cares.
In Loreauville, a similar event took place at the High Schools athletic fields. Vehicles blared their horns and flashed their lights as they drove past the baseball field with images of team's seniors on the fencing.
