Iberia Parish parents who wish to switch their children from virtual learning this semester will have the chance.
On Wednesday night, the Iberia Parish School Board made the decision to allow parents the option to switch their children from virtual to in-person learning.
Superintendent Carey Laviolette said the board made the decision because parents had requested the switch due to the complexities of virtual learning.
She says that parents who wish to move their children from virtual to in-person learning environments will have from Friday, September 18 until Friday, September 25 to make the change.
Laviolette says that 3,900 children in Iberia Parish were signed up to take part in the school district's virtual learning option.
She says that the school systems believes that a few hundred of those students and their parents are interested in switching to the face-to-face educational option.
