Iberia Parish opts-in to reopen bars following low COVID-19 positivity rates

NEW IBERIA, La. — Iberia Parish has now opted in for the reopening of bars following a consecutive low percent positivity of COVID-19 cases.

Parish President Larry Richard declared the opt-in on Wednesday in accordance with the governor's proclamation.

The parish has had a positivity rate of 5 percent or less for two consecutive weeks. LDH reports a 3.3 percent positivity for the week of September 10 and a 4.1 percent positivity for the week of September 17.

The Iberia Parish government says that they will allow on-premises consumption at bars in accordance with the Governor's proclamation. Permit holders may reopen as of September 30.

Parishes including: St. Martin, Lafayette, Acadia, Jeff Davis, St. Mary and St. Landry have all become eligible to opt-in.
