The Bayou Teche has been closed to non-emergency boat traffic until next week.
Parish President Larry Richard issued the proclamation, which takes effect tonight and lasts until July 22. It affects all non-emergency and motorized craft.
Richard said the proclamation is necessary because of damage and problems being reported by residents and business owners along the bayou.
