Winter Weather: Evangeline Parish

Posted
and last updated

Evangeline Parish Officials are encouraging residents to stay off the roads as much as possible for the next few days.

With the below freezing temperatures and falling rain/sleet/snow, the roads will be very icy. If you slide off the road into the ditch, it may be difficult for emergency personnel to reach you. If you must travel for work, you may want to talk to your boss first and explain the road conditions in your area. Emergency agencies cannot advise employees if they have to go to work or not. State road closures are posted on 511la.org.

The City of Ville Platte is asking residents to boil their water, and conserve water as much as possible.

"Due to the frozen weather conditions and issues, we are under a Boil Advisory Until Further Notice! Please boil your water before using. Also, please CONSERVE WATER! Use only what you need until this cold weather passes," a post from Mayor Jennifer Vidrine states.
