Ville Platte officials have announced a city-wide curfew for minors, adults and businesses until further notice.
The curfew takes effect tomorrow, March 30 and will be from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m.
"This curfew is due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the protection and health of our beloved citizens. This curfew will be strictly enforced. The State Police has been alerted and notified of this curfew. If you see anyone not complying with this curfew or not complying with the Gatherings of 10 or less, please use your TIP VILLE PLATTE app or call 911," a statement Mayor Jennifer Vidrine posted on her Facebook reads.
If you are a health care worker, the curfew does not apply to you; show your health care badge or letter, she writes.
"We have 4 confirmed cases in Evangeline Parish and results are still coming in. This curfew is for your own health, safety and to stop the spread of COVID-19," she writes. "THIS VIRUS CAN KILL YOU! WE CAN GET THROUGH THIS TOGETHER IF WE ALL COOPERATE TOGETHER! Thank You for your understanding and cooperation! KEEP PRAYING WITHOUT CEASING!"
