Protesters are gathering in Evangeline Parish Thursday night in support of those who have lost their lives in the hands of law enforcement.
Organizers say the event isn't just about what's happening nationally with the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery.
They say they are fighting for locals as well - Keenan Ardoin and Dejuan Guillory, who died at the hands of police officers.
"It's about time people speak up," said protester John Arabie. "I noticed there's a lot of excitement about a lot of people now, but there's some of us who have been around for a long time and who have witnessed this and are just really tired. I'm 70 years old and I've experienced this kind of racism for many years."
The march begins at the EPSB Media Center behind Ville Platte High School and will end at the Courthouse. The march will begin at 6 p.m. and last until 8:30 p.m.
KATC's Eman Boyd is live in Ville Platte and will have more tonight at 6 and 10.
