Evangeline Parish Sheriff's deputies arrested a Ville Platte woman after a stand-off last week.

Deputies were called to a home on Acadia Drive, for a complaint of a disturbance involving weapons. When they got there, they met with a witness who said a woman inside the home had punched her and pulled a gun.

When deputies tried to talk to the woman in the home about what happened, she allegedly barricaded herself in the home, Sheriff Charles R. Guillory said.

She was screaming that she had an autistic child in the home, and was not coming out. Deputies tried to talk to her, but she wouldn't come out, so they forced their way in and arrested Joline Brasseaux.

Deputies searched the house, looking for the child, but there wasn't a child there. They did allegedly find narcotics in plain view.

Brasseaux, 46, was booked with aggravated assault, simple battery, resisting an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of Clonazepam, possession of Heroin and possession of crack cocaine.
