A retired Louisiana State Trooper is taking on the task of training officers in the Ville Platte Police Department.
Willie Williams was hired by mayor Jennifer Vidrine to train new and current officers and develop policies and training methods to be used during instruction.
"He will be a tremendous asset to the city of Ville Platte and law enforcement at every capacity, his experience and expertise is priceless. Now I know the department will be doing the right thing for our officers and the residents of Ville Platte," said Vidrine.
Williams says he is looking forward to training the members of the department.
"There are a lot of good, young officers here and we look forward to getting those mandates, get those policies in place and then begin to train them on the situations that may face as police officers," he said.
