Over the weekend, the Bait Stand in Pine Prairie released a statement on Facebook saying despite the governor issuing a mask mandate, the owners will not require its employees or customers to wear one.
The owner didn't wish to go on camera but did say the post was only meant for his customers and no one else.
St. Martin Parish President, Chester Cedars said, "The regulation is clear, wear a mask, and the objective is to stop the spread of the disease."
Cedar also mentioned that any business owners not requiring masks for employees, and customers are going against a Louisiana revised statute.
"There is a clear statement that the executive orders of the government shall have the full enforce effect of law. Period, case closed," he said.
Although the Parish President did state those who are not following the order can expect to be penalized, the consequence could be considered minor.
"The governor has never spoke of anything other than the enforcement of the executive order through the issuing of citation through fines and penalties," he said.
Cedar says the owners of the Bait Stand are in the position of many Louisiana residents.
"I don't think the opposition is founded in bad faith. I think there has been so much miss-information that has propagated by many people, and the general public is frustrated," he said.
