The Ville Platte Police Department says that an arrest has been made in connection to a Thursday night break-in at a Ville Platte bank.
Police Chief Neal Lartigue says that officers responded to an alarm activation at a bank on West Main Street at approximately 8:30 pm on August 13.
A suspect, identified as 40-year-old Brian Keith Thomas, was allegedly seen by officers inside the building.
Upon noticing the officers, police say Thomas ran out the front door and led them on a foot pursuit.
Thomas managed to evade officers in the area of Magnolia Street.
While investigating the break-in, officers say they discovered that the electricity had been turned off at the breaker box and multiple parts of the building had sustained damage.
Officers also reported that bank offices had been ransacked. A bank manager was unable to determine that anything was missing, according to Lartigue.
After further investigation, Thomas was arrested and booked into the Ville Platte City Jail on charges of simple burglary, criminal damage to property and theft.
He was transferred to the Evangeline Parish Jail where he is being held without bond.
Chief Lartigue says that Thomas is a possible suspect in other incidents. More charges are possible.
