The Evangeline Parish Police Jury says it will begin roadside and possible aerial spraying throughout the parish to address persistent mosquito populations.
Police Jury President Ryan Williams says that spraying will take place within the week while weather permits.
Residents are encouraged to cover exposed skin and use mosquito repellents when outside.
Williams says that the mosquito infestation is also affecting wildlife in the area.
