The Evangeline Parish School System has announced virtual graduation dates for parish high schools.

In a letter to parents, Superintendent Darwan Lazard said the decision to hold virtual ceremonies was made after review of the results of a recent online survey.

All schools will conduct ceremonies that comply with the state's order forbidding gatherings of more than 10 people and requires six feet of social distancing between participants and masks, Lazard's letter states.

He said each school will contact parents with details about how the ceremonies will work, but here are the dates:

Ville Platte High - May 14, 5:30 p.m.
Pine Prairie High - May 14, 6:30 p.m.
Basile High - May 15, 6 p.m.
Mamou High - May 15, 6 p.m.

Lazard's letter says that central office staff are working with each school's administration and faculty to plan the virtual ceremonies, and asks parents for "complete cooperation as we seek to recognize and honor your children."
