The Evangeline Parish School Board met behind closed doors Wednesday to discuss a possible lawsuit, KVPI reports.
Board attorney Bob Hammonds recommended the executive session, announcing that the board had received a threat letter from a Lake Charles law firm. The firm represents an Evangeline Parish employee who is threatening to sue if the board makes any changes to the supervisor salary schedule, the radio station reports.
The board along with Hammonds stayed behind closed doors for more than an hour, and took no action when they came out, KVPI reports. However, the superintendent is appointing a committee to work with Hammonds on the issue. Hammonds told KVPI that the pay scale that was approved last summer is the source of the controversy.
