East Baton Rouge escaped work release inmate captured in Evangeline Parish

An escaped work release inmate from East Baton Rouge Parish has been captured in Evangeline Parish.

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office says that on Sunday, December 22, 2019, deputies responded to the 1900 block of Alec Street in Mamou, LA in reference to a call of break-in. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a man standing near a parked vehicle. The man was later identified as Joseph Fuselier who was wanted by East Baton Rouge and Acadia Parishes.

According to the EPSO, Fuselier had allegedly escaped from the custody of East Baton Rouge Correctional Facility staff on November 24, 2019. Fuselier was assigned to a Work Release program when he managed to escape.

Fuselier was arrested and transported to the Evangeline Parish Jail where he was booked on charges of Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling and Possession of Stolen Things.

Bond was set at $85,000.00 and a hold was place on Fuselier for East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office.
