MAMOU, La. - The Hotel Cazan and Cazan’s Crimefighters will hold a cold case conference in Mamou Aug. 30-31.
This weekend of true crime is described as “The Investigative Discovery Channel” sprung to life, according to event organizers.
The convention tackles real missing person cases, unsolved homicides, and issues of criminal justice.

Stephen Menard – Founder of Justice for Unsolved Homicide Victims
Judge Forrest Johnson – Sharing experiences from his Mississippi courtroom, including long-cold homicides solved decades later
Prof. Kathleen Johnson – expert forensic consultant and professor in Investigative Forensics at University of Maryland University College. Prof. Johnson is a retired Special Agent with the U.S. Army Criminal Investigations Command who specialized in evidence collection and management, crime scene processing, and emergency scene management.
Catalene Theriot – Founder of Voices of Innocent Citizens Empowered and the 16th Judicial District Victim Intervention Specialist
Shera Broussard-LaPoint – professional genetic genealogist helping to take DNA testing to the next level by combining tools used by forensic analysts with the tools of genealogy to bring new hope to victims and their families. LaPoint recently assisted in solving The Calder Road Murders, aka “The Killing Fields” case in League City, TX.
