Chicot State Park has partially reopened to the public.

On June 11, Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser and the Louisiana Office of State Parks announced the reopening of Chicot State Park in Ville Platte to the public.

Today, June 26, The south campground and cabins became available for stays. Reservations for the campground and cabins opened earlier this month.

The day-use area including boat launch, fishing piers, pavilions, picnic sites, the water playground, and the meeting room are now open.

While those areas are open, the North Campground, North boat launch, North lodges, and part of the Chicot Hiking Trail remain closed, according to officials.

Access to Chicot Lake also is available via the East Landing of Chicot State Park. The landing is located off La. Hwy. 106 on Spillway Road.
