Vermilion Parish School Board president Stacy Landry was forced into a runoff in Tuesday’s election. Landry got 42 percent of the vote, and will face challenger Dale Stelly, who got 45 percent of the vote.

The other school board winners were:

District E – Jean Broussard

District G – Jason Roy

District H – Kristy Kloesel Heber

Carl Toups will be the new Justice of the Peace for Ward 1 with 58 percent of the vote.

In Erath,Taylor Mencacci will be the new Mayor with 68 percent of the vote. Anna LaPointe will be the new Chief of Police in Erath with 70 percent of the vote. Aldermen will be Jason Connor – 17 percent; Scott Antoine Bernard – 16 percent; Earl “Boo” Landry – 15 percent; Robert B. Vincent – 15 percent; and Michael “Mike” Richard – 15 percent.

In Gueydan, Jude Reese has been elected Mayor with 52 percent of the vote. Shawn Theriot will be the new Chief of Police with 53 percent of the vote. Aldermen will be Jason Suire – 13 percent; Scott Vallo – 13 percent; Anita Freeland Dupuis – 12 percent; John Laseter – 12 percent; and Claudette Price 11 percent.

In Maurice, Guy Nerren will be the new Chief of Police with 51 percent. Aldermen will be Phyllis Johnson – 31 percent; Jonathan Schilcher – 25 percent; and Warren Rost – 22 percent.

Fantasy Sports item:

This item was on every voter’s ballot state-wide, but each parish is deciding the issue individually.

A vote for it would permit online fantasy sports betting contests in the voter’s parish; a vote against it would not allow online fantasy sports betting contests in the voter’s parish.

Vermilion Parish voters approved the measure, 53 percent to 47 percent.
