Residents in Lafayette elected a new city marshal on Saturday. Reggie Thomas won with 51% of the vote.

KATC's Abby Breidenbach was live with Reggie Thomas after the results were announced, where he spoke on his victory and plans for uniting the community once he is sworn in.
Our Scott Brazda spoke with Kip Judice, who congratulated Thomas and offered his support to the city marshal-elect.
Also in Lafayette, voters rejected a request to re-dedicate two taxes.
The first would have re-dedicated a 1 cent sales tax passed in 1985; voters said no 57 to 43 percent.
The second would have re-dedicated a 1 cent sales tax passed in 1961; voters said no to that one, 58 percent to 42 percent.
