Winn Parish Sheriff Cranford Jordan's health has improved after recently testing positive for COVID-19.
KALB reported Tuesday that the sheriff was on a ventilator, but says he was taken off of it Tuesday evening. His condition is improving and he's less sedated as he recovers at Rapides Regional Hospital. His wife is in quarantine at their home, according to the station.
Winnfield Mayor George Moss said Sheriff Jordan had recently been working "tirelessly" in the community after Hurricane Laura knocked out power for much of the parish and caused widespread damage.
"He's a great leader," said Moss. "The whole community and the whole parish is with him."
