A Lake Charles man was killed in a two-vehicle crash shortly before 6:15 a.m. on Saturday morning.
22-year-old Austin Boudreaux was traveling on LA Hwy 378 at a high rate of speed. Boudreaux's vehicle crossed the centerline and entered the westbound lane of travel as it rounded a right hand curve.
After crossing lanes, the vehicle struck the front of a pickup truck.
Boudreaux was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle.
He sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the pickup truck was property restrained and was transported to a Lake Charles area hospital with moderate injuries.
Impairment is unknown; toxicology samples were taken from both drivers for analysis.
The crash remains under investigation.
Troopers would like to remind drivers to observe the speed limit, to drive at a speed that is safe for prevailing road and weather conditions, and to not drive while impaired.
