TWO MORE DAYS of early voting; here are the numbers so far

Early voting continues tomorrow and Tuesday, October 27, for the November 3 election.

Early voting for the election is open in every parish at the parish registrar of voters office, and in other locations as well, in some parishes.

Early voting for the November 3 election started Friday. KATC Investigates pulled the figures for Acadiana's parishes.

Statewide, 761,215 people have cast their ballots so far. That's compared to 503,620 early ballots cast during the entire week of early voting for the November 2019 election, according to Secretary of State data.

Here are the SOS numbers for our parishes so far:
Acadia - 7,299
Calcasieu - 36,266
Evangeline - 4,019
Iberia - 11,306
Jeff Davis - 5,590
Lafayette - 37,606
St. Landry - 10,508
St. Martin - 10,360
St. Mary - 8,554
Vermilion - 7,968

That's a total of 139,476 early votes.

Here are the SOS numbers for the entire week of early voting for the November 2019 election:
Acadia: 5,613
Calcasieu: 15,874
Evangeline: 3,916
Iberia: 8,501
Jeff Davis: 4,029
Lafayette: 17,524
St. Landry: 7,900
St. Martin: 7,967
St. Mary: 6,012
Vermilion: 5,497

That's a total of 82,833.

The Secretary of State website says: "The registrars of voters will open their offices from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. for each day of early voting (for the Nov. 3, 2020 election they will open their offices a 8 a.m. and close them at 7 p.m. for each day of early voting). When you go to cast your vote early, you will be asked to identify yourself with either a photo ID or signature on a voter affidavit. You may use a Louisiana driver’s license, a Louisiana special identification card, a United States military identification card that contains the applicant's name and picture or other generally recognized picture identification card that has your name and signature. You may wish to contact your local Registrar of Voters Office for specific locations, dates and times."
