The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office has arrested 22-year-old Antonio D. Watts of Port Allen in the shooting death of a store clerk at a Valero gas station in Baton Rouge last week.

According to WBRZ, Watts is facing charges of First Degree Murder, Felon in Possession of a Weapon, and Illegal Use of a Weapon.

EBR Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post that a concerned resident contacted authorities about Watts being a possible person of interest. After questioning, Watts confessed to shooting Md Firoz-Ul-Amin and provided details that corroborate security footage.

Police say that in the footage, "the suspect is seen entering the gas station, shooting Firoz-Ul-Amin unprovoked. He is then seen stepping over the slain man before stealing cash from the register and fleeing."

EBR Sheriff Sid Gautreaux said "It's so important that those in the community who know something, say something. We want to get dangerous criminals off our street. My heart goes out to the friends, family, and colleagues of Mr. Firoz-Ul-Amin. I hope that bringing the person responsible to justice will bring some closure."
