LSU to offer contactless parking payments at on-campus metered spaces

This fall, LSU students will be able to pay for parking without touching the meters at on-campus spaces, thanks to a new partnership with smart parking and mobility service ParkMobile.

Beginning on August 17, students, faculty, staff, and visitors can open the ParkMobile app and pay for parking at over 650 metered spaces on campus. The app allows users to make contactless payment to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

A user simply enters the zone number posted on the stickers and signs around a metered parking space. They then select the amount of time needed and touch the "Start Parking" button to begin the session. A user can also extend the time of the parking session on the app without having to go back to the meter.

ParkMobile has more than 19 million users nationwide, with nearly 300,000 of those in Louisiana. It's available in several cities across the state, including New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport. The app is also available at a number of SEC schools, including Texas A&M, and the University of Alabama. It's available on both iPhone and Android devices.

"LSU Parking is excited that this feature will be offered to LSU students and employees," said LSU Transportation Demand Manager Josh Galasso. "Offering a contactless option provides a safer and smarter way for students, faculty and visitors to pay for parking on campus."

"ParkMobile is excited to launch at LSU and add another great SEC school to our network," said Jon Ziglar, ParkMobile CEO. "Now everyone on campus can avoid touching the meters and safely pay for parking on the app. Geaux Tigers!"
