BATON ROUGE - The initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending April 18, 2020, rose to 91,923 from the week ending April 11, 2020, total of 79,653, the Louisiana Workforce Commission reported Thursday. For a comparison, during the week ending April 20, 2019, 1,593 initial claims were filed.
The four-week moving average of initial claims increased to 92,787 from the previous week's average of 87,916.
The unemployment insurance continued claims for the week ending April 18, 2020, increased to 246,296 from the week ending April 11, 2020, total of 217,532. The continued claims were above the comparable figure of 13,218 for the week ending April 20, 2019.
The four-week moving average of continued claims increased to 160,650 from the previous week's average of 102,612.
