Applications for livestock owners affected by Hurricane Laura are now open through the LSU AgCenter.
The AgCenter says that hay, feed, fencing material and other supplies have been donated by benefactors in Louisiana and surrounding states.
The application can be found online at www.lsuagcenter.com.
Completed application forms must be returned by Sept. 30. After applying, a committee will review the application and contact livestock owners to arrange a pickup of donations if they are available.
“The Louisiana Cattlemen’s Association, the Louisiana Farm Bureau, the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry and the LSU AgCenter are working together to help organize and secure donations and to ensure that these donations are distributed in a timely, organized and equitable manner,” said Kurt Guidry, LSU AgCenter Southwest Region director. “The needs of our livestock industry are significant right now, and these donations will only go so far. But it is a start to help the rebuilding process.”
