Coast Guard searching for two possible people in Lake Pontchartrain waters

The Coast Guard says they are searching for two people who may be missing in the waters of Lake Pontchartrain on Wednesday.

The Coast Guard says they received a report from a towing vessel of an overturned 10-foot camouflage flatboat in Lake Pontchartrain. The vessel was located approximately one nautical mile east of the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway.

According to officials, the reporting source said that he had seen the same vessel Tuesday at the same location with two people aboard.

Involved in the search are:

  • Coast Guard Station New Orleans 25-foot Response Boat-Small boat crew
  • Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter aircrew
  • Jefferson Parish Police Department
