Louisiana State Police held graduation ceremonies this morning for the 98th Cadet Class. During a ceremony held at the Louisiana State Police Training Academy and the BREC Independence Park Theatre and Cultural Center, forty-eight cadets officially completed the journey to becoming Louisiana State Troopers.
That journey, according to State Police, began on May 27 of this year. The class started off with 59 cadets from across the state and took 22 weeks to complete. Cadets received training in various subjects including crash investigation, emergency vehicle operations, impaired driving detection, traffic incident management, and leadership in addition to a rigorous physical training regimen.
48 of those Cadets were joined by family and friends this morning after having reached their goal of receiving the Louisiana State Police badge.
The new Troopers will now deploy for duty across the state where to participate in a 10-14 week field training program supervised by senior Louisiana State Troopers.
