Four state troopers were injured after a teenage suspect allegedly attempted to evade and flee from them, according to Louisiana State Police.

According to officials, at around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday a Trooper stopped a gray Nissan Altima northbound on LA Hwy 1, at Airbase Road in Alexandria for traffic violations.  The Trooper then asked the driver, later identified as 18-year-old Torie Lewis of Alexandria to exit the vehicle.

The driver complied and stepped to the rear of the Nissan where the Trooper and Lewis began talking. Troopers then say that one of the two juvenile passengers allegedly repositioned himself in the driver seat and sped off from the scene.

A Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy, that had stopped to provide backup for the Trooper took Lewis into custody as the Trooper gave chase.

The juvenile driver allegedly began traveling southbound on LA Hwy 1, at speeds in excess of 100 mph.  As the Nissan approached the Alexandria city limits, other Troopers joined the pursuit.

Troopers say the juvenile driver continued to refuse to stop for Troopers as the pursuit approached Rapides Avenue.  Then, the Nissan collided with several LSP vehicles, before becoming disabled on Rapides Avenue, where the two juveniles were taken into custody.

As a result of the pursuit, four Troopers received minor to moderate injuries and required medical attention.  One Trooper was treated at the scene by medical personnel and three were transported to Rapides Regional Trauma Center for treatment.
