Application deadline today for contractor accreditation courses

Today is the final day for small and emerging construction firms to apply for the classes with the Louisiana Contractors Accreditation Institute in September.

Organizers say the program will prepare participants for the business and law portion of contractor licensing exams and build a foundation for operating in the industry.

The program was developed by Louisiana Economic Development, the Louisiana State Licensing Board of Contractors, and the Louisiana Community and Technical College System.

The course will be six weeks and offered at several locations from September 10 through October 17 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Online course options will also be available.

To register, go online to OpportunityLouisiana.com/LCAI and follow the steps under “The Process” located on the right hand side of the page. Registration will be through Fletcher Technical Community College. The application deadline is today, August 27.

Enrollment is $200 and covers the cost of the course and materials.

Class sessions will include lessons on the following topics:

Bid process.
Contract management.
Estimating.
Equipment management.
Scheduling.
Occupational safety.
Risk management.
Financial and business management.
Bonding and access to capital.
Certifications and available resources.
Entrepreneurship training.
