A teen from Lafayette who was in the hospital with COVID-19 has died.

In a post on social media, the family of David Lemaire, announced his passing. David was in the hospital being treated for COVID-19. He was 19 years old.

A story from the Advocate earlier this month said that David and his brother Jacob were being treated at local hospitals for COVID-19.
Teurlings Catholic shared a message of condolences to the family after learning of the news.

"The Teurlings Catholic family of faith extends its prayers and condolences to the Lemaire family during this time," a post reads.

David's father, Mark Lemaire, has been updating his Facebook page on his son's condition. He posted at around 3:00 pm Friday that David had passed saying, "David is finally healed and made whole again and is now with our Lord and Savior."

On Thursday, Mark said that David was in surgery after he began bleeding in his chest.

Hundreds of shares and comments expressing condolences and prayers soon followed.
