COVID-19: State update - 385,942 cases and 8,590 deaths

As of Jan. 25, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 2,075 and there have been 25 new deaths, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Of these cases, 1,931 are confirmed cases and 144 are probable cases.

The total coronavirus case count in the state on Monday was 385,942 cases. The current total death count is 8,590.

LDH says that today’s report includes data from January 24 and January 25.

The collection dates for most of these cases (99.8%) fall between January 17 and January 24, 2021. 97% of the cases reported to the state today were community spread. 3% of the cases reported to the state today were in congregate settings.

As of Thursday, January 21, there have been 314,328 vaccinations have been administered. This data is updated twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The next update will be Tuesday, Jan. 26.

On Mondays, LDH usually releases the week's list of providers across the state that would have COVID vaccines available for those 70 year old and up and others within the current priority. Residents wanting to receive a vaccine at those locations were required to make an appointment. For more information, click here.

Since Sunday, 28,277 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 5,123,581. Of the tests reported today, 26,998 were PCR tests and 1,279 were antigen tests.

LDH reports that 1,638 patients were hospitalized across the state (down 3 from Sunday); 219 of those patients were on ventilators (up 4 from Sunday).

Across Acadiana, there were 236 new cases and 7 new deaths since Sunday.

As of Jan. 24, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 3,604 and there have been 82 new deaths, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

NOTE: The state does not report numbers on Saturdays. That means these differences reflect two days of numbers, not one.

The total coronavirus case count in the state on Sunday was 383,862 cases. The current total death count is 8,565.

The collection dates for most of these cases (91.5%) fall between January 15 and January 22, 2021. 95% of the cases reported to the state today were community spread. 5% of the cases reported to the state today were in congregate settings. Individuals between the ages of 18 and 29 (18%) and between the ages of 30 and 39 (16%) account for 34% of these cases.

As of Jan. 22, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 1,937 and there have been 41 new deaths, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Of these cases, 1,748 are confirmed cases and 189 are probable cases.

The total coronavirus case count in the state on Friday was 380,255 cases. The current total death count is 8,483.

The collection dates for most of these cases (99%) fall between January 14 and January 21, 2021. 94% of the cases reported to the state today were community spread. 6% of the cases reported to the state today were in congregate settings.

Of these cases, 2,693 are confirmed cases and 1,163 are probable cases.
