A campaign fundraiser is hoping to bring relief to a downtown Lafayette non-profit that supports the area's art and theater scenes.
"Save Cité des Arts" was started by the non-profit with a goal of raising $40,000.
The organization says that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has caused many performances, classes and workshop at their location on Vine Street to be canceled.
The economic impact of the pandemic on the arts and culture sector, they say, has been felt far and wide with a loss of an estimated $14.6 billion.
"The doors opened on this facility in June 2002. Since that time, many artists have entertained our audiences and graduated to larger and more far-flung venues," a press release states. "We have seen local artists and their work spread out across the country. But these artists do not forget us! They frequently remind us that they could not have done it without the facility and support of Cité des Arts."
Donations are currently being accepted on the Cité Des Arts website.
