Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies have arrested a Lake Charles woman accused of stealing $10,000 from the care facility where she worked.
Lamikaa Wilkins, 42, was booked with theft of more than $5,000 but less than $25,000. She was released on her own recogniznance later that day.
Deputies were called last week to the Lake Charles care facility by someone who audits the bank account monthly. The most recent audit showed more than $10,000 of unauthorized transactions between September 9 and 20, a spokeswoman said.

During further investigation detectives obtained a transaction summary and learned some of the charges were made from PayPal and Facebook with an account name of Lamikaa D. Wilkins, 42, 205 Contour Drive, Lake Charles. Detectives learned Wilkins was an employee at the care facility and was in charge of making purchases for the facility. On September 28 Wilkins was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with theft over $5,000 but less than $25,000. She was released later the same day on a $10,000 ROR bond set by Judge Sharon Wilson.
