A Westlake woman was arrested last week after deputies say she allegedly struck an 11-year-old several times in the face and left him at a Vinton convenience store.
39-year-old Heather M. Johnson was arrested on April 9 after deputies were called to a store in Vinton where a 11-year-old had been left alone.
Calcasieu Parish Deputies say that they found the child had red marks and bruising on his face.
Through an investigation they learned that Johnson, the boy's mother, had allegedly struck him several times, busting his nose, before leaving him at the store.
Deputies made contact with Johnson at her home where she allegedly told deputies she became angry with the child and struck him.
Johnson was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on a charge of cruelty to a juvenile.
During booking deputies say they also located suspected methamphetamine allegedly concealed on Johnson.
Along with cruelty, Johnson was booked with possession of CDS II and introduction of contraband into a penal facility.
Her bond is set at $34,000.
